Actor Nicola Coughlan opens up about her reduced role in the upcoming Derry Girls season 3. Derry Girls, created by Lisa McGee, first premiered back in 2018, and tells the story of five teens living in the town of Derry during the Troubles in Northern Ireland in the 90s. The comedy is somewhat based upon the life experiences of creator McGee, and along with Coughlan also stars Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Louisa Harland, Jamie-Lee O'Donnell and Dylan Llewellyn. After a long wait, Derry Girls season 3 is set to air later this year, and will be the series's final season.
Along with portraying Claire Devlin in Derry Girls, Coughlan has also made a name for herself playing Penelope Featherington on Netflix's hit series Bridgerton. The highly-anticipated Bridgerton season 2 is now out. While the two series are quite different from each other, both Derry Girls and Bridgerton share the fact that both of their productions were hindered by the COVID-19 pandemic, which made their respective new seasons highly anticipated as the wait for them was so long. As it stands, Derry Girls season 3 has officially been finished, though it still does not have an official release date as of yet.

Unfortunately, working on two productions that were being hindered by the pandemic made Coughlan's scheduling particularly difficult.
