The competitive multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight is adding a disturbingRingu player character in an upcoming update called Sadako Rising that is freaking out streamers. This crossover between Dead by Daylight and Ringu is just one of a handful of collaborations between the video game and other popular horror properties, a list that includes Saw's The Pig and Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
There are two groups of players in Dead by Daylight: the overwhelming majority of players in a match take on the roles of the Survivors, while one player fills the shoes of the Killer. As a survivor, players must run and hide from the Killer, as they have no means of directly harming them. Survivors can, however, attempt to outmaneuver or outwit a Killer by setting traps or using the environment to their advantage. Things are much different for the player filling the role of one of the game's Killers, who have heightened senses and can track down survivors with relative ease. Once they find a survivor, they can use one of their special abilities to incapacitate them before transporting them to a Hook for sacrifice. There are a number of different monsters, spirits, and crazed murderers that players can choose to inhabit when playing as the designated Killer in Dead by Daylight, each with its own unique set of skills.
