DC Comics is no stranger to making evil versions of Superman, but in a new preview for a new Man of Steel co-starring series, Red Kryptonite is about to transform the real Kal-El into a much darker hero. In a new look at Batman/Superman: World's Finest #1, Superman faces off against the villain Metallo, who uses Red Kryptonite to stop him in his tracks, injecting the hero with a serum that's sure to take him down a much more twisted path.
Superman's greatest weakness has always been Kryptonite, as the green version of the material drains his strength and powers and makes the superhero vulnerable to attack. However, over the years, DC Comics has introduced more than 20 different colors of Kryptonite, all of which have other effects on Superman. For example, Blue Kryptonite is Bizzaro Superman's biggest weakness, Platinum Kryptonite grants humans Kryptonian powers, and White Kryptonite specifically attacks plant life. However, in a new World's Finest comic, Red Kryptonite, the most unpredictable and evil version of the material, is unleashed against Superman.

In a new preview of Batman/Superman: World's Finest #1 by Mark Waid, Dan Mora, Tamra Bonvillain, and Aditya Bidikar, Metropolis is attacked by Poison Ivy. However, the Superman villain Metallo soon joins the battle, as Kal-El senses he's being powered by Kryptonite. After using Green Kryptonite to make Superman fall to his knees, Metallo reveals he's also carrying a vile of Red Kryptonite — which has random, dark, often evil effects on its user.
