As far as games about the four horsemen of the apocalypse go, the Darksiders series is easily the most well-known. Some veterans of the series were, understandably, perplexed by this change - especially if they had chosen one of the harder difficulty levels expecting a familiar experience. It makes sense, then, to have a detailed explanation of everything that difficulty level affects in Darksiders 3.
There are five different difficulty levels in Darksiders 3: Story, Balanced, Challenging, Apocalyptic, and Reckoning - easy to hard.
Difficulty level primarily affects three things:
On harder difficulties, you will have to make use of every tool you have at your disposal to make your way through the game. This includes understanding your secondary weapons, spending your attribute points wisely, and exploring as much as possible to get every last piece of treasure.
There are some achievements in the game that require you to be on certain difficulties. Path of the Horseman requires that you beat the game on Challenging mode, and Death Incarnate requires that you beat the game on Apocalyptic mode.
These stack, so if you beat the game on Apocalyptic mode on your first playthrough, you will get both of these achievements plus the generic achievement for beating the game on any difficulty.
