Netflix’s Daredevilis currently seeing fans flock back to rewatch the series in the wake of the massive character reveals in Hawkeye and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Long before Disney+ began dominating streaming records with their MCU interconnected series, Marvel Television wowed fans by releasing Daredevil season 1 in 2015. Featuring Charlie Cox as the blind lawyer-turned-vigilante Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as his intimidating nemesis, Wilson Fisk (aka Kingpin), the inaugural season garnered a flood of critical acclaim and earned itself a legion of fans.
Shortly after the release of Daredevil’s debut season, Netflix would continue to expand upon their Marvel footprint with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist all ultimately leading into the team-up mini-series, The Defenders. In 2019, however, Disney planned to launch their own streaming service and had already begun ending many of their distribution deals for their IP with Netflix. While Daredevil showrunner, Erik Oleson, had pitched his ideas for a fourth season hoping for a renewal, Netflix officially canceled the series in November 2018, but suggested the character “would live on in future projects for Marvel”. Ever since that announcement was made, Marvel fans have been crying out to see the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen return to their screens.
