Unforetold: Witchstone is an upcoming CRPG from Spearhead Games. Revealed at the PC Gamng Show today. Previously known as Project Witchstone, the game draws from sandbox features in letting you shape the world around you.
Blending classic roleplaying game elements and sandbox features, the game’s influence system is its standout feature. Set in a world called Kalsundia, player choices are meaningful, and the inhabitants of the world will act, react, and have their own personalities and purposes.
The NPCs you encounter will have their own personalities and likes and dislikes, and they'll form opinions. you might make a few friends and some may become your enemies. Plenty of developers talk a lot about meaningful player choices, but Unforetold: Witchstone is building major systems around this. According to creative director Malik Boukhira, “Our Influence System really adds another layer of freedom and creativity while recreating the tabletop RPG experience that gives players more control of their choices and the way they want to play, where their decisions and interactions really affect the world around them.”
Customization is also a big part of the game, inspired by tabletop RPGs as well as deep character creation systems that incorporate ability, backstory, and of course, your character appearance. The choices that you make will shape your destiny and all along the way, all of the decisions and interactions that you do will spread your influence around the world and it will change how others see you. Not just that, but it you also affect how people and factions will perceive each other, including how they interact with each other, for better or worse.
