In fact, original lead Mandy Patinkin left Criminal Minds after season 2 because he couldn't stand the darkness of the material. Featuring on season 4's «Soul Mates,» the episode opens with a lawyer named William Harris (Michael Boatman) being arrested by the BAU, who believe he's responsible for a series of abductions and killings of teenage girls. However, when the latest victim turns up dead while he was in custody, the team concludes he's working with a partner. He's soon revealed he and his next-door neighbor Steven Baleman (George Newbern, Father Of The Bride) had formed a serial-killing partnership.
