Rumors suggest that a Crash Bandicoot multiplayer brawler is currently in development at Toys for Bob. The marauding marsupial's first platforming adventure launched back in 1996, and the series' popularity has recently been reignited by a series of remakes and a brand-new title. Developer Toys for Bob created Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, an original new installment in the series released in 2020, and last year the developer teased a multiplayer Crash Bandicoot game too.
Naughty Dog's work on Crash Bandicoot ended in 1999 with Crash Team Racing, and the beloved PlayStation series gradually fell into obscurity afterwards. Unsuccessful attempts to reinvigorate the series failed, leading to a long hiatus for the acrobatic anthropomorphic bandicoot. However, in 2017 Vicarious Visions released Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, which remade Naughty Dog's original trilogy and brought the franchise back into the spotlight. Developer Beenox subsequently released Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, which remade the 1999 competitive racing game, and then Toys for Bob created an original modern game titled Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time. While no future plans for the franchise have been officially revealed, last year a fun new Crash Bandicoot project was teased by the titular character's voice actor Scott Whyte.
