Hellboy is getting ready for his return to the big screen. Though his last movie was a resounding failure at the box office and was bashed by critics and fans alike, he is still a character with a lot of potential. The owners of his film rights know this very well, as a new feature film and reboot of the franchise is in the works.
The project will be called Hellboy: The Crooked Man and is set to adapt the miniseries of the same name written by Mike Mignola and drawn by Richard Corben. Over the course of three comics, the famous red demon has to face another being out of hell in the mountains of West Virginia. This project's existence could result in the beginning of a new series of video games about Hellboy, taking advantage of the new interest in the demonic antihero.

Although the 2019 Hellboy reboot didn't work, cinema isn't done with the paranormal detective. The anti-hero will return to life on the big screen with a third reboot that will try to erase the movie starring David Harbour from memory while hopefully not making fans miss Ron Perlman and Guillermo del Toro's version even more. If successful, this new movie may inspire a new wave of video games based on the popular superhero.
It is hard to believe that there haven't been more video games based on Hellboy. The character seems almost perfect to star in a Resident Evil type horror/action game, or even something similar to BioShock. His abilities, such as super-strength, use of guns, and extensive knowledge of the paranorma could be easily captured in a video game.
