Warning: contains preview images for Farmhand #16!
Farmhand, from Image Comics, begins with a dark premise: a farm that grows organs, and when the book returns this Spring it will be darker than ever before. Farmhand #16, on sale in print and digital April 13, will see the award-nominated, fan-favorite series return with a brand-new storyline by Eisner Award-winning creator Rob Guillory.
Rob Guillory broke into the comics scene in the late 2000s, gaining notoriety for illustrating Chew, by writer John Layman, also for Image; the series garnered Guillory several award nominations and wins, including an Eisner. As Chew began to wind down, Guillory created Farmhand, which he both writes and illustrates. The book follows the adventures of the Jenkins family, a group of Black farmers living in the rural south. The patriarch of the family, Jedidiah, has created a special seed that can be used to grow replacement limbs and organs. Years later, his estranged son Ezekiel returns, joining his father on the farm. Numerous parties, including Jedidiah’s former partner Thorne, want the special seeds for themselves. Farmhand chronicled the adventures of Jedidiah, Ezekiel, and their family as they try to stay a step ahead of those who would take their secret for themselves. The book debuted in July of 2018 to high sales and critical acclaim, running for 15 issues before going on a short hiatus. Now, Farmhand has returned, with a new storyline, one promising to be darker than any before.
