Unsure of their ability to defeat the invader in combat, and after taking a massive hit from just one attack, ZiggyThePineapple runs back to the elevator, presses the switch, waits for it to descend just a bit, and jumps down onto it. In the heat of pursuit, the invader follows and jumps down as well, but the elevator has been descending for a longer period of time, so the distance is larger, causing the invader to die due to fall damage.
Fall damage is killer in most FromSoftware games, and although the magical abilities of the player's spirit steed, Torrent, diminish the threat a bit, Elden Ring also has its fair share of high cliffs and buildings, falling off of which spells doom.
