Kevin Smith says the first trailer for Clerks 3 should arrive in May. Smith kicked off his career in 1994 with the classic indie comedy Clerks and is now returning for one more trip down to the Quick Stop.
Writer-director and Silent Bob actor Smith of course will be joined on his return to the View Askewniverse by the cast of regulars from Clerks, including Jason Mewes as his perpetual on-screen partner Jay as well as Dante (Brian O'Halloran) and Randal (Jeff Anderson). And naturally Rosario Dawson will also be back as Becky after joining the gang in Clerks II. This trip to the Quick Stop figures to be more poignant than the others however, as the plot concerns Randal surviving a heart attack – something that has deep meaning for Smith who survived his own heart attack in 2018. After making it through his heart episode alive, Randal asks Dante to help him make a movie about their time together as convenience store clerks, a development that figures to give Clerks III a meta-movie quality.
