It never should have released in the state that it did, but credit where credit is due: Square Enix seems committed to improving Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition — and that's good to see. The remastered RPG has received another update on PS4, which once again promises to improve performance.
More specifically, this patch increases the frame rate cap to 60 frames-per-second in battle, which should make things much smoother. When the game first launched back in April of last year, it suffered from some woeful fps drops in combat; they were so bad that even just navigating the command menus could be a chore.
This new update follows on from a previous patch that released just last month. It's taken Square Enix close to a year to get Chrono Cross up to speed, but hey, better late than never!

Hmmm… I wonder if similar improvements will be made to the Switch version, which is what I got.
Not that I need them; I beat the game at launch, and I find it to be perfectly fine and playable as is.
