Warning! SPOILERS for Choose Or Die.
A mysterious video game turns into a deadly reality in Choose Or Die, but it's not always clear how the game works. Directed by Toby Meakins, the film is clearly influenced by the twisted concepts of Black Mirror, as well Jumanji where the titular game encroaches on players' real lives. Choose Or Die is 2022's latest video game-based film, but unlike Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and Uncharted, it is an original story rather than an adaptation.
Choose Or Die focuses on Kayla, a college student who is going through a hard time as her younger brother has just died and her drug-addicted mother is being abused by their landlord, Lance. Kayla finds the game CURS>R at a computer repair shop owned by her friend, Isaac, and takes an interest when she notices there is a large cash prize for anyone who wins. Finding herself struggling for money, with her cleaning job at the fictional Kismet company not covering her bills, Kayla decides to try the game out.
