The Oppo Reno 8 series his going official on May 23 in China and ahead of the launch, we already know how it could look! Thanks to a leaked renders of the device, we now have a first look at the Oppo Reno 8, or rather one of the models in the Reno 8 series. That’s because the leak does not specify which variant of the Reno 8 series does this render refer to. Going by the information in bandit seems we are looking at the Reno 8 Pro, which is the flagship model in the Reno lineup. It could be coming in four different colours as well.
The leaked render come via a report from MySmartprice, showing the Reno 8 series device in its full glory. Compared to the Reno 7 Pro, the Reno 8 series device looks largely identical, especially with its flat sides and the choice of colours. However, the rear camera module sees a lot of changes, especially with the way the sensors are aligned. Gone is the glowing LED light ring around the camera island and in its place now sits a Oppo Find X5 Pro-inspired gradual slope. There are three camera sensors at the back, flanked by a flash and the “Marisilicon” branding.
The Marisilicon branding means Oppo is bringing the dedicated camera processing chip from the Find X5 Pro to the Reno 8 series this year. Paired with the rumoured Sony IMX766 sensor, this should help in improving the image processing and video recording capabilities. It remains to be seen how much of an advantage does this chip deliver when it comes to low light imaging.
The render also shows the four colour options on the phone — Black, Blue, Green and Gold.
Previous rumours suggested that the Oppo Reno 8 Pro is likely to retain most of the features from the Reno 7 Pro, which includes its camera setup, battery and overall design.
