During Summer Game Fest, NetherRealm Studios released the first gameplay footage for its upcoming fighter Mortal Kombat 1. The sequel is coming to PlayStation, PC, and Xbox platforms this September.
The trailer gave us our first look at both the chaotic one-on-one action, as well as an all new chapter of the long-running MK story, (which is another hit on the ol’ reset button). Additionally, we got confirmation that Kameo Fighters, previously referenced online, does, in fact, refer to an assist system, that will allow players to mix up their roster by calling in playable and NPC kombatants.
We saw veterans such as Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Johnny Cage, Liu Kang, Raiden, with assists from Kameos Sonya, Kano, Kenshi, and Jax, among others. Of course we also saw some miserably gory fatalities, along with what seems to be a return of the X-Ray mechanic, or at least some form of hard-hitting revenge system.
Mortal Kombat 1 launches September 19 on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox platforms.
