Zelda-inspired animated projects are nothing new; in fact, just last year, someone managed to bring BOTW's box art to life with impressive 3D animation work. Needless to say, creative members of the franchise's robust fan community always find a way to honor the beloved series.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild hit store shelves roughly five years ago in 2017, inviting players on a groundbreaking adventure in the kingdom of Hyrule that pushed the envelope in terms of game design. BOTW continues to influence interactive experiences that followed in its stead, particularly with respect to its art style, open-world design, and inventive gameplay mechanics. Unsurprisingly, other disciplines of art have borrowed heavily from the title as well, with fans especially putting their talents to use to reimagine the stunning world of Breath of the Wild.

Reddit user Hexedz recently shared a nearly two-minute animated short inspired by Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The Redditor created the short for their sophomore film project at University, exhibiting skills far beyond that of a supposed amateur animator. Titled Shield Bash, the student film follows two adventurers who try besting each other in order to stake their claim on a much-coveted shield. From the art design and animation to the music and direction, Shield Bash serves as the perfect showpiece for what fans would want from a Legend of Zelda-branded anime.
