Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel is easily one of the most powerful heroes in the Marvel Universe, and usually her villains reflect that, except a fairly new group of sinister invaders have asserted themselves as her rivals, and they are too weird for the MCU. Captain Marvel is one of the newer additions to the MCU’s Avengers and has quickly become an integral member. While expanding her cadre of villains on the big screen is the logical next step for her continued MCU presence, it seems even she hopes these particularly weird villains don’t make the cut.
In Captain Marvel #37 by Kelly Thompson and Julius Ohta, Captain Marvel and the rest of the ‘Marvels’ are recovering from their battle with the cosmically villainous Vox Supreme. A part of that is coming to terms with the existence of Binary, a sentient entity of cosmic energy that Captain Marvel gave life to during the previous struggle with Vox and his armies. To help Binary fit into human society, Carol and Monica take her on a road trip where they meet with some other hero friends of theirs and show Binary that life isn’t just about being a superhero—that letting loose and having fun is arguably just as important.

Before Captain Marvel and Spectrum help Binary understand her place in the world, however, they first had to deal with some ridiculous villains who were just annoying enough to be considered threatening.
