Chris Evans isn’t ruling out a return to Marvel just yet.
In an interview with GQ, Evans was asked if he’d ever return to Marvel. “Yeah, maybe,” he answered. “I’ll never say never, just because it was such a wonderful experience.”
Evans continued, “I’m also very precious with it. It’s something that I am very proud of. And like I said, sometimes I can’t believe it even happened. And I wouldn’t want the black eye if it felt like a cash grab or if it didn’t live up to expectations or if it just felt like it wasn’t connected to that original thing. So, no time soon. And ultimately I really hope to just maybe act a little bit less in my life. I have a lot of other interests. Look, by no means have I climbed any sort of a mountain in this field. I have no Oscars and I’m not lumped with other names that are at the top of the mountain in any way. But I also feel very satisfied.”
Evans first portrayed the Star Spangled Man with a Plan in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger. He reprised the role in 2012’s The Avengers, 2014’s Captain America; The Winter Soldier, 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, along with cameo appearances in 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, 2015’s Ant-Man, 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, and 2019’s Captain Marvel.
The end of Avengers: Endgame saw Steve Rogers, now an elderly man, pass the Captain America mantle onto Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie. Wilson’s adventures as Cap continued in 2021’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, along with the forthcoming Captain America: Brave New World, which is currently scheduled to release on July 26, 2024.
