Easter eggs have been a major part of the Call of Duty Zombies experience since Call of Duty: Black Ops’ first DLC offering in 2011, but Call of Duty: Vanguard broke a decade-long Easter egg-hunting trend for the series. Treyarch, the development team responsible for the currentCall of Duty Zombies experience, promised that a main Easter egg quest would be added to the game following community feedback suggesting that Call of Duty Vanguard's Season 1 did not include enough Zombies content, and, while the studio made good on that promise, the final result hasn’t been to the community’s liking.
A brief mission broken into two parts, players must first recover the Decimator Shield, a new wonder weapon that's been introduced alongside the classic Call of Duty Zombies Ray Gun This can be achieved by completing a series of portal objectives and locating several crystals and runestones throughout the hub map. This culminates in a brief boss fight against Zabella the Deceiver, an ally of Kortifex, which takes place in the Dark Aether.
Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies Players Can Access Season 2 Content Early
After she is defeated, players must interact with two more runestones and return to the Dark Aether. There, the Decimator Shield’s special ability can be used to destroy four anchors tethering a page from the Tome of Rituals. Once this is done, the page can be collected, and all players will be returned to the Terra Maledicta hub map, the first Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies Easter egg quest complete.
