Rockstar’s GTA 6 announcement has some doubting the existence of a Bully sequel, but apparently it is still coming.
While it didn’t have anything to show for it, Rockstar Games has finally acknowledged that it’s working on the next mainline Grand Theft Auto game, safely assumed to be Grand Theft Auto 6.
As a result, many fans have pointed out that this probably means rumours of a sequel to Bully are false. However, insider Tom Henderson, who claimed that Bully 2 was meant to be announced at The Game Awards 2021, is insistent that something is going on with the series.
On Twitter, his Bully claims were questioned by Bully 2 Source, an account which covers news and rumours related to Bully 2. The account believes that with GTA 6 as Rockstar’s main focus, the studio wouldn’t be able to work on that and a Bully sequel, or remaster, at the same time.
As Henderson points out, Rockstar never said that GTA 6 would be its priority. What’s more, the announcement doesn’t mean that the company is incapable of working on anything else at the same time.
Henderson and others believe that GTA 6 has been in development for some time, with one purported release date being 2025. Considering Grand Theft Auto 5 released in 2013, it’s difficult to imagine Rockstar waiting nearly 10 years to start work on the next game.
Even if that was the case, Henderson’s original claim mentions a playable build for a new Bully game being shown to select individuals, which would mean that it’s much further along in development than GTA 6.
