A biopic has been in the works since The Woman in Me memoir became a New York Times bestseller. While we know the upcoming movie will portray the highs and lows of the pop princess’s life, who will be the lucky actress playing her? The Crossroads actress’s former personal assistant has some ideas of her own.
It would be the chance of a lifetime for any actress to have the privilege to play the big-named singer. From starring in The Mickey Mouse Club at a young age to accomplishing teen stardom with her best-selling albums, Britney Spears was teen idol royalty for the Y2K generation.

Her teen career included acting and singing in Unfabulous, leading to adult roles in American Horror Story and Space Cadet.
Felicia Culotta would also love it if Drew Barrymore would play herself in the movie, believing she’d “nail it!” She could also see Dune’s Timothée Chalamet playing Justin Timberlake, whose relationship with Britney Spears was a big part of the book. He’s got acting and musical chops in movies like Wonka and the upcoming Bob Dylan movie A Complete Unknown.
We may not know about any casting decisions just yet, but we know the Wicked team will be handling production. Jon M. Chu will be directing the Universal Pictures biopic, and Marc Platt will be the producer. We can safely assume that bombshells revealed in The Woman in Me will play a role in the new movie. The memoir covered moments like Britney Spears’ rise to stardom, her troubled relationship with Justin Timberlake, conservatorship drama, and more.
Spears also plans to have creative control over the script and casting. She confirmed on an X (formerly Twitter) post her excitement for the new project:
