Ever since The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild released in 2017, players have happened upon many hidden details in the open world. One player, however, discovered a seemingly unintentional quirk of the game.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild changes the mechanics of The Legend of Zelda series in big ways, filling a vast world with many quests that help build Link up for the final battle that can be approached at any time the player feels ready. A sequel has been revealed, and while little is known about it, it is unlikely to have anything like the strange area TurtleLlama1983 stumbled upon.
Nintendo Reaffirms Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2's 2022 Release Window
In a video post, the player details a strange occurrence near the Coliseum Ruins area where Link encounters a strange anomaly, being damaged by what seems to be the regular ground. The temperature meter is high and jumping makes splashes of lava appear despite there being no visible lava pool. Stepping slightly to the side reveals a similar patch of water, where jumping makes the splash ripples appear to be floating over the ground.
There is seemingly no visual indication that these water and lava patches should be there, so it seems they are most likely unintentional. The patch is very small, so it has no chance of causing major issues for players, either. Despite its insignificance, it is an interesting representation of how some things, intentional or not, can remain obscure thanks to the sheer size of the open world the game features.
