The first batch of set photos from Warner Bros.'s upcoming Blue Beetle live-action adaptation reveals the DC hero's costume. One of Warner Bros.'s future DCEU projects is Blue Beetle, starring Cobra Kai star Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes. While the teenage hero made his live-action debut in Smallville season 10, Jaime finally gets the cinematic treatment over ten years later. Blue Beetle centers on Jaime, who one day discovers a powerful alien scarab that turns him into the iconic DC titular hero.
Angel Manuel Soto is attached as the director, while Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer wrote the Blue Beetle screenplay. Blue Beetle will be the first major superhero motion picture headlined by a Latino character. Initially, Blue Beetle was set to be an HBO Max original before Warner Bros. and DC Films turned it into a theatrical film, released in theaters in the summer of 2023.
