It looks like Aurora from Ubisoft’s Child of Light is making her way over to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night as a playable character on March 31. This is a rather sudden crossover, to be honest. But fans of both 2014’s Child of Light and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night have something to look forward to. Still, it’s a pretty weird inclusion, and I think we can all agree with that.
Aurora’s addition was announced in a short trailer that was posted earlier today. The very short trailer doesn’t tell us much and simply shows Miriam, Bloodstained‘s protagonist, jumping into a portal. After a short wait, Aurora pops out and exits the room. And that’s it for the trailer. However, there’s some more information over on Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night‘s website to go through.
According to the post on the website, Aurora will have various gameplay mechanics that are unique to her character. So, even if you’ve played through the game a few times by now, it may be worth hopping back in. She starts the game with the Sword of Matildis and her spirit friend, Igniculus. Together, the two have to find their way out of the demon-infested castle. Some familiar faces are still around, though, like Johannes, who’s able to transmute items found in chests.
The biggest change when it comes to Aurora’s gameplay is the way she deals with enemies. She has a directional Light Ray that can damage enemies. Igniculus also acts on his own and can stun enemies or even heal Aurora in a pinch. As you progress through the game, Aurora will age and gain new movement abilities and additional powers. If you’ve played Child of Light, you’ll recognize the aging mechanic.
It was a weird move on the developer’s part, but there are some cool additions here.
