Black Adam is the next big DC Comics project set to hit the big screen, and it seems the Dwayne Johnson film is making some slight changes to the origins of Hawkman.
Black Adam will feature the Justice Society of America, which includes members such as Doctor Fate, Hawkman, Atom Smasher, and Cyclone. During an interview Vanity Fair, director Jaume Collet-Serra revealed that there will be some changes to the DC canon, and one of the modifications being made will be the backstory of Hawkman, which has been simplified for the audience's sake.

Collet-Serra went on to explain why he chose to remove Hawkman's comic book origin. «In the comics, there are clear references of like, 'Hey, I saw you 5,000 years ago. You remember me?' We’re not doing that...It would be too confusing.» The director, however, makes it clear that it doesn't mean it's out of the picture, «Obviously, Hawkman reincarnates, so how many times do you need to reincarnate and still remember? All these rules [are something] you don’t want to set until those characters are really established.»
Black Adam is a fan favorite anti-hero who is usually known for being in fights with characters such as Shazam and Superman, while mainly serving as Shazam's primary antagonist. Fans have been waiting for this character's appearance on the big screen for many years, and now the wait is almost over. Johnson has stated that Black Adam will propel the future of the DCEU, but it remains to be seen how audiences will respond to the anti-hero's live-action feature film debut.
