It's not that Birushana: Rising Flower of Genpei starts out all sunshine-and-bunnies and slowly transforms into something darker. From the very first scenes, we're introduced to a world of strife and a young woman whose survival teeters on the brink. But there's a difference between Birushana's bad endings and, well, the rest of the game.

We're speaking about the stuff that trigger warnings exist to safeguard us against when necessary. Seeing copious amounts of blood is one thing. Bearing witness to the murder of deeply sympathetic characters, their lives mercilessly snuffed out through brutal writing, is another. And if that weren't enough, strongly implied suicide ends a handful of routes as well.
While completionists may wish to unlock these game-ending nightmares in order to experience everything that Birushana has in store for them, surely there will be players who would prefer to skip the terrible sad stuff. If that's you, here's your guide.
There are five narrative routes in Birushana: Rising Flower of Genpei. However, there are a few brief branch-off "what if?" scenarios involving secondary cast, and — more relevant to the topic at hand — a 'Shared Route' that encompasses much of the game's first three chapters, before you've selected Shanao's love interest, as well as certain predefined moments thereafter.
We'll cover every route's potential bad endings, including the Shared Route content. Treat this as something of a walkthrough on what not to do, and you'll be golden going forward.
