Mr. Malcolm’s List ending explained. Directed by Emma Holly Jones from a screenplay by Suzanne Allain (which she adapted from her novel), Mr. Malcolm's List joins a number of Regency era films. With drama, some romance, and plenty of impressive costumes, the period film has a lot to offer.
Mr. Malcolm's List wouldn't be a period romance if it didn't end on a happy note that tied everything together. Mr. Jeremiah Malcolm, after hearing some harsh truths from his mother, realized that he couldn't be without Selina Dalton despite being frustrated with Julia Thistlewaite's plot to humiliate him. Putting everything aside and admitting to his own faults, Mr. Malcolm catches up with Selina before she returns to Sussex to tell her he loves her and ask her to marry him. Selina tearfully accepts and, with no more roadblocks between them, end the film with a kiss. Meanwhile, Julia, who apologizes to Selina for her revenge plans, stops fighting her feelings for Captain Henry Ossory and openly accepts his affections. The period romance wraps up with not one, but two happy couples.
