The events of Better Call Saul season 6, episode 1 confirm one theory about Gene Takovic's story in the show's final episodes. Better Call Saul season 6 will end the show, and that means it's doing things a little differently. That includes releasing its episodes in two separate parts — similar to Breaking Bad season 5's release strategy — and also meaning the return of Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul). Another key example of this change is with Better Call Saul's Gene timeline.
Every season of Better Call Saul since its beginning has started with a flashforward to Gene's life working at the Cinnabon in Omaha, following on from Saul being made to disappear towards the end of Breaking Bad. These black-and-white sequences have formed their own narrative to provide a tantalizing glimpse of Gene's life, gradually building a compelling story within Better Call Saul's larger narrative. However, Better Call Saul season 6, episode 1 mixes it up, since Gene is missing completely.

Instead opening with a flashforward to Saul Goodman's house being raided at some unknown point in time, it at least confirms the theory that Better Call Saul season 6 breaks Gene tradition by moving away from only having him in the opening scene of episode 1. That also means it is definitely doing things differently with its Gene story, which makes sense given the Breaking Bad spinoff is coming to an end. Quite what that entails remains to be seen, but it would further fit for Better Call Saul to dive more into its Gene story than ever before, repositioning when his scenes take place,
