Larian Studios has confirmed that Baldur’s Gate 3 will receive new features, including cross-play and Photo Mode. However, a new Steam Community post reveals they’ll arrive with Patch 8 in 2025. That’s not all, as 12 new subclasses are also inbound.
Cross-play will encompass all platforms, including Mac, and even include cross-progression. It will occur with the Larian Network and allows for inviting players to lobbies directly. As for the new subclasses, they’ll add to each of the current classes in the game and offer new abilities, summons, cantrips, and more.
The Bard is getting the College of Glamor for healing allies and charming enemies, who can be given orders. Barbarian embarks on Path of the Giants, using Giant’s Rage to increase their size and strength, more throwing attack damage and carry capacity. Clerics venture into the Death Domain and explode corpses to deal damage.
Druid’s Circle of Stars allows for inhabiting new Starry Forms, namely Archer, Chalic, and Dragon, each with unique playstyles. Paladin’s Oath of the Crown can interrupt enemies while healing allies and tanking using Divine Allegiance. The Fighter can become an Arcane Archer and either deal Psychic damage or banish enemies for a turn. The Monk gets the Drunken Master, recovering Ki and getting enemies drunk, which increases their chance to take damage and other benefits.
There’s also the Ranger (Swarmkeeper), Rogue (Swashbuckler), Sorcerer (Shadow Magic), Warlock (Hexblade), and Wizard (Bladesinging). When you consider Multi-Classing, the number of options becomes even more insane.
Stay tuned for more details in the coming months. Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, and it’s reportedly sold over 15 million copies to date.
