The fate of the clone cadets after Order 66 is left ominously unclear in Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Although the young clones are told that they’d become soldiers as intended, the Galactic Empire had just phased out their clone troopers in favor of the less formidable but cheaper (and more easily indoctrinated) TK troopers, the precursors to stormtroopers. Printed material in the Star Wars canon continuity, while not specifically explaining what happens to the young clone cadets, allows for several tragic answers to be extrapolated.
The Galactic Republic’s heroic clone troopers played their part at the end of the Clone Wars, assassinating their Jedi leaders against their will when Order 66 was issued (due to a brain implant that’s no longer dormant). With the Republic now usurped by an autocratic regime, the clones were no longer needed, especially with The Bad Batch revealing that the effects of their control chips eventually wore off, leading to clones turning against the Empire. The clone cadets, who were intended to become clone troopers, are in an uncertain and precarious position, as the Galactic Empire no longer wants clone troopers, despite their superiority to recruited TK troopers and stormtroopers.
