Indie horde roguelike Vampire Survivors added a strange new character in its most recent update — one that cannot move. Arriving in patch 0.7.3, this new character, called Peppino, appears to be a still and normal tree. However, they also deviate from the game's current roster in a few interesting ways, calling back to the community of Vampire Survivors itself.
Developed by Poncle, Vampire Survivors is a great indie roguelike game that challenges players to survive for as long as they can as they take on hordes of the undead. Although currently in early access, Vampire Survivors enjoys an active community of players. The game also has an expanding roster of characters that can be unlocked with in-game currency, with Peppino being its latest addition.

Unlike the other characters in Vampire Survivors, the stoic tree has one glaring impairment: it can't move. While this may initially make the character seem less viable, the way it has been designed makes it an interesting and unique choice. To supplement its lack of mobility, the tree has additional health and armor, as well as an increasing passive area bonus that grows at smaller increments than a lot of the other unlockable characters in Vampire Survivors. Peppino's games will always start with the Soul Eater item, which is an upgraded version of Garlic once the player has acquired Pummarola. This gives the character a massive bonus to area-of-effect damage and in tandem with other items it can be destructive. In comparison, other characters have to acquire the two prerequisite items during the game to make using this item possible.
