On Saturday, Mike Fleiss tweeted out that there would be a «historic announcement» and later revealed it would occur on Monday's episode ofThe Bachelor, but the episode aired and there was no such announcement. Mike lied, but why? Well, perhaps since this season has been quite boring and the creator of the show wanted to increase the ratings before hometown dates.
Many fans of the show might be tuning out on this season for several reasons. The first is that fans could be suffering from Bachelor fatigue: there has been a season of one version of the show or another since Matt James' season last year almost non-stop. The second is more straightforward: Clayton Echard just isn't that interesting. He talks about the women like they're athletes he's coaching («I like what I'm seeing out of you so far») and appears incapable of carrying a conversation of any depth whatsoever. The host, Jesse Palmer, hasn't added anything new to the show and looks more like a Clayton stunt-double than someone there to offer any additional value to the franchise.

After one user tweeted «How much you wanna bet it isn't historic at all?», Fleiss responded "$40?". Fleiss continued promoting the lie on Monday, tweeting «The Major Historic Announcement regarding #thebachelor will be made during tonight’s broadcast! #hometowns». At 9:07 p.m., Fleiss made the announcement on his Twitter account:
