Despite promising a runtime of 12 to 15 hours, Team Asobi’s Astro Bot looks like a packed experience with over 80 levels and more than 300 Bots to rescue. However, the launch is only the beginning, as the developer confirmed free post-launch DLC.
Speaking to Famitsu magazine (as reported by @Genki_JPN on Twitter), director Nicolas Doucet said the team is working on “playful stages” speed run levels. “We plan to release DLC that includes playful stages, and exciting speed run stages like in the previous game by the end of the year, so please look forward to it.” The extent of post-launch support is unknown, so stay tuned.
Astro Bot launches on September 6th for PS5, retailing for $59.99. New gameplay leaked recently, containing some never-before-seen cameos from iconic franchises. You can check out some of them here, though be warned of spoilers. Our feature also offers more details on the game’s mechanics, from the new abilities that Astro gains to the difficulty options.
As for whether Astro Bot will ever launch on PC, Doucet didn’t outright confirm it’s happening, but he is interested in hearing from players. However, there won’t be PlayStation VR2 support (sorry, Rescue Mission fans).
