Currently, we have a rumor going on in the rumor mill started by Insider Gaming. This rumor relates to the release date of FromSoftware's next installment in the Armored Core series: Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon. According to the rumor, the game is set to be released on August 2023. This possible release date may also be accurate, considering the latest developments surrounding the latest game in the franchise.
According to Insider Gaming's sources, the game is going to be released on August 25, 2023. The sources close to the outlet also suggested that the game will receive an announcement regarding its release date soon. Either that, or an appearance during this year's Summer Game Fest in June will be the perfect time to make an announcement for Armored Core VI's release date.
This rumor is supported by Gematsu, which found that the game has been rated in Korea, meaning that the game will be released at some point this year. According to the rumor mill, the game was set to release between September and October 2023, and before the Elden Ring expansion Shadow of the Erdtree. A release date in August certainly meets the latter's expectations, but it also would leave the game to contend against Lies of P and Baldur's Gate 3.
No matter when it releases, those who have come to know and love FromSoftware with the Souls series shouldn't expect Armored Core VI Fires Of Rubicon to be a Soulslike game. While the experience will be challenging and will retain some small elements of the Souls games as they are part of FromSoftware's design philosophy, it will focus on the features that define the series, such as mech-building and customization, and intense battles.
