Apple is planning to introduce a plethora of upgrades at its Wonderlust event on September 12. While the iPhone 15 lineup will be the highlight of the event, the company will also see fit to announce its forthcoming Apple Watch Series 9 and new AirPods. It is now being reported that the AirPods Pro's charging case will be upgraded with a USB-C port but the rest of the design will stay the same.
Apple will switch to a USB-C port with the iPhone 15 lineup and the company is planning to bring the new port to existing devices as well. For the end user, it makes sense to own devices that can be charged through a single USB-C cable. It was previously reported that Apple will bring the USB-C port to the AirPods but the model was not specified. In his latest Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman states that the new port will be coming to the 'Pro' version of the AirPods. He also stated that other than this, there will be no design variations.
With the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models, Apple is finally introducing a new port that could feature enhanced functionalities. Gradually, the company will ditch the Lightning port on all of its existing products and replace them with USB-C. The change took place with immense pressure from the EU.
