Animal Crossing: New Horizons and its DLC Happy Home Paradise are full of little hidden details. Ever since the last big update, fans have come across a bunch of new features that weren't highlighted in the announcement trailer, making the patch well worth the long wait - and a great send-off to the game that kept us busy over the first lockdown.
Now, players have found another feature, and it's pretty weird. For some reason, villagers who are placed in front of a cauldron will fall into an intense trance, as if they're channelling some sort of magical energy. A fan recorded this in action, and it's kinda freaky.

As Reddit user Musicfanatic75 spotted, Celeste reacted very strangely to being placed in front of the Cauldron. Suddenly, a spooky sound played, and her wings rose to the air. She starts shaking, with her eyes indicating she's either hypnotised or casting a spell. I'm not sure which theory is more disturbing.
As pointed out in the comments, Celeste is using the "haunt" emote. We don't see this as often as it was exclusive to the Halloween event, but it appears it can be triggered by placing the characters near spooky items. In this case, the whole house was filled with witchy memorabilia, which I guess just means every Animal Crossing villager can use magic.
This is far from the only secret fans have spotted since returning to their islands. Back when the update first went live, it was found that if you invite Mabel over to the DLC using an Amiibo card, she brings her two sisters along with her: Sable and Labelle. So basically, her card gives you three for the price of one.
