And Just Like That… writer Michael Patrick King finally gives a definitive update on the prospect of a Samantha return. The HBO Max comedy-drama series developed by King and created by Darren Star served as a revival of Sex and the City, the hugely popular adaptation of Candace Bushnell’s 1997 book of the same name. After premiering on December 9, 2021, the show ran 10 episodes, before concluding on February 3.
The highly anticipated revival show has received its fair share of mixed reviews, particularly for a few divisive plot points. When the show was announced in October 2021, many wondered what narrative direction the series might take, and one of the biggest questions was whether fan-favorite character Samantha Jones would be appearing. Following a public feud between Sarah Jessica Parker, who played Carrie in Sex and the City, and Kim Cattrall, who portrayed Samantha, there was speculation Cattrall would not return, which proved to be the case.
