Loki season 2 has wrapped up — but is there more to Loki’s story in the MCU? Marvel hasn’t revealed much about plans for a new season, and the fact that the studio’s projects roll out in phases means it might be a bit before we see what’s next in store for Hiddleston’s Norse god.
But Loki season 2 really upped the ante for our one-time god of mischief, as he, Mobius (Owen Wilson), O.B. (Ke Huy Quan), Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), and the team tried to stop the collapse of the Loom while also saving all the timelines. Whether or not that was the season Marvel envisioned for Kang or his next MCU chapter, we got a bit more of a glimpse to some variation of him and his genius, which could be important for the next phase of the MCU.
Aside from that, here’s everything you should know about a (for now) possible Loki season 3.
Not officially — yet. Loki was the first show in this MCU era to get a second season, so we’re already in a bit of uncharted territory.
The end of season 2 brought some clarity to Loki’s powers (and place in the ongoing multiverse narrative of the MCU’s Phases 5 and 6), which seems like the sort of thing that would feed directly into another season of Loki. Then again, Marvel is reportedly taking steps to reevaluate its TV commitments. And there’s nothing keeping Loki from returning in cinematic form — maybe this variant could even meet up again with a post-Love and Thunder Thor.
Probably a while from now. Loki season 1 premiered in June 2021 and season 2 didn’t go live until Oct. 2023. That gap is pretty standard for turning around any Marvel project, particularly one that might rely more on VFX than other MCU offerings like Falcon and Winter Soldier.
