Actor, comedian, and judge of America's Got Talent, Howie Mandel, reacted to Dave Chappelle's recent attack and shared his concern for the comedic industry. Mandel has been a comedian since 1978 and is known for being an observational and improvisational comedian. His career as a comedian took him on many comedy tours and his success in the comedic industry opened other doors for him in the entertainment industry.
Like Mandel, the world watched as Dave Chappelle was attacked on stage just after performing at the L.A. Hollywood Bowl. Chappelle had just finished his act when an armed man, now identified as Isaiah Lee, tackled him on the stage. Chappelle's security quickly came to his rescue and fought Lee who had a knife that was a replica handheld gun. Chappelle took a few minutes to regain composure and his friends and fellow comedians, Jamie Foxx and Chris Rock, moved to the stage to assist Chappelle in keeping the crowd calm after the altercation. Rock even offered his own joke by asking if Lee was Will Smith.

Based on reports from E!, Mandel said he has no interest in getting back on stage as a comedian right now as his worst fear has come true. The AGT judge believes that the attack on Chris Rock at the Oscars Academy Awards opened the gates for more violence against comedians. "You saw what happened at the Academy Awards, and I thought that just triggers—violence triggers violence and I think this is the beginning of the end for comedy," said Mandel.
