Ben Rathbun from 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days received more than his fair share of backlash at the season 5 Tell All, but many viewers believe he deserved the harsh comments. When 52-year-old Ben first appeared, many viewers were under the impression that he would have a storyline similar to David Murphey's. After three months of talking, and despite 22-year-old Mahogany Roca’s clear reluctance, Ben flew to Peru. Mahogany stood him up at the airport and didn’t respond to his messages for almost two days. As she continued to exhibit suspicious behaviors, Ben and viewers wondered if she was a catfish.

However, after making Ben wait several hours at a restaurant, Mahogany finally revealed herself, but she didn’t resemble the selfies she sent. The two continued to hit more bumps in their relationship as 90DF's Ben confronted Mahogany about lying about her age, home, and pictures. She also took a few opportunities to clarify some of Ben’s misconceptions, which made their relationship even more rocky. Throughout the season, Ben exhibited behavior that made Mahogany uncomfortable, and the other season 5 co-stars were quick to point out the unfairness of his double standards.

Part two of the Tell All started with Ben claiming that he understood relationship problems because he used to be a pastor who counseled couples. That didn’t sit well with Kimberly Menzies. Once they returned to the set, Kimberly and Jasmine Pineda shared exactly how they felt. Jasmine claimed 90DF's Ben gave her “pervert vibes" as he traipsed around a foreign country, looking for a woman 30 years his junior. Kimberly, on the other hand, found his behavior hypocritical.
