Recently, the rapper and actor Curtis «50 Cent» Jackson posted a cryptic teaser for «Vice City,» setting off speculation that he might be involved with the next Grand Theft Auto game. It's now been confirmed that he was actually teasing a new unrelated TV series, and its plot sounds like a GTA game.
Paramount+ is developing new original series with the working title Vice City, and it hails from Jackson's G-Unit Film & TV division, according to Deadline. The story follows three friends, former soldiers, who come home to Miami in the mid-'80s after a dishonorable discharge following the Iran Contra scandal.
«Disgraced, displaced, and forgotten by the country they served and with no good job prospects, the three friends partner with a mysterious Colombian immigrant, uniting their financial needs and criminal ambitions to form a heist crew,» reads a line from the show's description. «Fueled by the need for American green, they traverse a violent and dangerous path in pursuit of the American Dream.»
Vice City was created by writers and executive producers Darnell Metayer and Josh Peters, who wrote the upcoming Transformers: Rise of the Beasts film. John Wick franchise veteran Chad Stahelski is an executive producer and director for the Vice City series.
As for the GTA series, GTA 6--or whatever it ends up being called--is in development now at Rockstar Games. According to a massive leak, it's set in Vice City (a fictional version of Miami) and will tell a Bonnie and Clyde-style story involving criminal siblings.
