The official trailer for the upcoming sequel 365 Days: This Day hints that Netflix has opted to ignore all of the biggest controversies surrounding the original film. Erotic thriller 365 Days followed the complicated relationship of Sicilian crime boss Massimo Torricelli (Michele Morrone) and Laura Biel (Anna Maria Sieklucka), the woman he stalks, kidnaps and holds hostage for one year in the hopes that she would fall in love with him. Despite critical panning, the film proved to be relatively successful for streaming giant Netflix, holding the top spot on the platform for 10 days.
Though it was a relative success for Netflix, 365 Days proved controversial. Criticized for Massimo's treatment of Laura—including claims that the film perpetuates rape culture and glorifies domestic abuse—the film was considered problematic by many. The central theme of Laura having been kidnapped, which serves as the foundation of their entire relationship, makes practically every interaction between them non-consensual, and that made 365 Days incredibly controversial upon its release.

The trailer for 365 Days 2 hints that Netflix has opted not to make significant adjustments to the dynamic between Laura and Massimo, and therefore that the original film's biggest controversies will carry over to the sequel.
