100 Thieves is Making a Video Game
The realm of esports is incredibly competitive. It isn't just about in-game competition, whether it's in League of Legends, Overwatch 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, or Call of Duty. Esports organizations compete for players, they compete for livestreamers to represent their brands, and they compete for communities. 100 Thieves thinks it's time to expand into something different, though. 100 Thieves has officially announced plans to develop its own videogame, codename Project X.
Little to nothing has been said about 100 Thieves' Project X at this point in time. The announcement is meant more to confirm that a game is being made rather than reveal the game itself. With that said, 100 Thieves does state several games that will serve as influences for Project X. The list includesCall of Duty: Modern Warfare, Gears of War, and both Halo 2 and Halo 3. While that's not a statement regarding Project X's genre, it certainly implies a focus on shooters — whether first-person or third is unclear.

The other aspect ofProject X that 100 Thieves calls attention to is a focus on involving the esports organization and its community in the game's development. 100 Thieves says that it wants to communicate with pro players, livestreamers, and the 100 Thieves community, taking their input and putting it into the game as it's made. Exactly how that manifests will be revealed in time, but it's certainly a promise that will be difficult to deliver on.
