Blizzard is continuing to refine the final boss of Shadowlands, once again updating the title awarded for being one of the first hundred Alliance and Horde groups to complete the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid on Mythic difficulty. Originally, the title was the awkwardly worded Famed Bane of Zovaal the Jailer, and was changed in the last PTR build to the Famed Slayer of Zovaal the Jailer. This week, it has been paired down once again to simply Famed Slayer of the Jailer, while the final boss's dungeon journal entry has also been renamed from Zovaal to The Jailer.
Name: The Jailer Description: For untold millennia, the Jailer patiently unfolded his plan to reach the heart of the Sepulcher. Now poised upon the precipice of his final victory, the heroes of Azeroth must rally to prevent Zovaalthe Jailer from dominating all of reality.It is somewhat telling that there's a bit of an identity crises going on with the Jailer, as he was meant to be this mysterious larger than life villain pulling the strings, but didn't really make his presence felt enough to have a lasting impression on players. Hence, the revelation that the Jailer was actually the the eternal one Zovaal, original arbiter of the Shadowlands and brother to the rest of the Pantheon of Death fell somewhat flat. Since then, there's been continual back and forth as to whether he should be called Zovaal, the Jailer, or some amalgamation, such as The Jailer Zovaal or Zovaal the Jailer. As of today's PTR build, it appears that Blizzard is currently leaning towards his original moniker and likely most recognize name: The Jailer.
