The Legend of Zelda series has been one of Nintendo's most popular and recognized franchises since the first game's release on the NES. Since the first top-down adventure game released in 1986, The Legend of Zelda series has taken multiple forms, such as the open-world Breath of the Wild. A sequel to Breath of the Wild will be the next major installment in the Legend of Zelda franchise, yet fans of the series are often looking back to earlier entries as much as they are looking forwards.
As a franchise that initially released in the 1980s, gamers of that time have carried their love for The Legend of Zelda over the years. From fans creating a PC port of Ocarina of Time, to modern games taking inspiration from The Legend of Zelda titles, its clear the series still holds weight in the gaming community today. For one Legend of Zelda fan, that weight comes in the form of 25,000 LEGO blocks which they used to create a huge tribute to the original NES game.

The LEGO project involved creator Ian Roosma spending a few months working on something that had «personal meaning» to him. Roosma then went on to say that "Zelda on the NES is nostalgic for me because it was the beginning of open-world games." Buying LEGO pieces from independent brick sellers, the Legend of Zelda fan was able to gain all the pieces he needed for the project. Considering the original Legend of Zelda game was created in 2D, the 3D element of LEGO pieces proved to be quite the challenge.
Despite the challenges, Roosma created an impressive tribute to one of his favorite games, completing the map of Hyrule at 30 inches tall and 86 inches wide. Fans who watch Roosma's video on YouTube
