With Zack Snyder's Justice League making its debut on digital platforms aside from HBO Max, the DC director shared new promotional materials for the film's latest release. While sharing new posters for the release, Snyder posted a photo to the social media site Vero while using a quote popularized by Benito Mussolini.
The poster, which shows the Justice League emblem carved in stone on top of a reel of film, features a quote from a general during the French Revolution. While the battle cry was used by Mussolinim, it originated during the War in the Vendée, when the French armies marched into battle against the revolutionaries.

The quote featured on the poster states, «If I advance follow me, if I retreat kill me, if I die avenge me,» which comes from Henri de la Rochejaquelein, a general for the Royalist Vendéan insurrection. La Rochejaquelein was the youngest general in battle, and at 21 served as commander-in-chief of the Catholic and Royal Army. While Snyder did not caption the post, many comments have theorized whether the quote is a hint about the fate of the «Snyderverse.» Before stepping down from Warner Bros. back in 2017, Snyder was set to direct the theatrical 2017 Justice League film, as well as other DC projects. Fans were excited about the prospect of Snyder taking over the DCEU and compared his takeover of the franchise to Kevin Feige's leadership at Marvel Studios.
