A new Yellowstone and 1883 spinoff entitled 1932 is officially happening at Paramount+ following the success of the latter spin-off series. The neo-Western drama franchise first launched in 2018 with the Paramount Network series centered on the Dutton family, the owners of the largest ranch in Montana as they deal with internal conflicts as well as those with the bordering Broken Rock Indian Reservation, national parks and developers. Kevin Costner leads the cast of Yellowstone alongside Wes Bentley, Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille and Breckin Merrill.
Though initially launching to mixed reviews from critics, Yellowstone has grown to receive largely positive reviews in its subsequent seasons and has been a ratings smash for Paramount Network. This success initially led to the proper Western spin-off series 1883 centered on an early generation of the Dutton family as they make the trip from Fort Worth, Texas to Montana to what would eventually become the family ranch. Starring Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Sam Elliott, 1883 has similarly been a major hit for Paramount+, scoring largely positive reviews from critics and drawing in large viewership for the streaming platform and the franchise is only just getting started.
