Realme came up with a tablet last year, and so did Motorola, while Samsung continues to dominate the affordable tablet segment. And, you cannot ignore the presence of Apple’s famed iPad range that is essentially a trend-setter for tablet devices. So how can Xiaomi be left behind? After a long wait, Xiaomi has now expressed its intentions to bringing its tablet to India for the first time.
Xiaomi makes and sells some of the nicest Android tablets in this Chinese market, offering its custom MIUI experience. It now seems that Xiaomi could be bringing one of their latest ones to India. The teaser says “Let’s Tab”, but does not mention the name of the device. Could it be the high-end Xiaomi Pad 5 series that launched in India last year?
The Xiaomi Pad 5 and Pad 5 Pro are two of the company’s high-end tablet models selling in China. If you seek the specs, have a quick look. Both models feature an 11-inch 2.5K IPS LCD display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a 240Hz sampling rate for the stylus.
These tablets are known for their performance though. The Xiaomi Pad 5 gets the Snapdragon 860 chipset whereas the Pro variant gets the more powerful Snapdragon 870 chipset. Similar to the iPad range, you get both Wi-Fi only and 5G variant. The base Pad 5 gets up to 6GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The Pro variant gets a tweaked 8GB + 256GB.
As for the battery, the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro relies on a 8600mAh battery with 67W fast charging support. The regular model gets a bigger 8720mAh battery. Both the Xiaomi Pad 5 models feature 13MP rear cameras on the rear, with the exception of the Pro variant getting an extra 5MP depth sensor. The Pro model supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 but the standard model supports Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0.
