On July 22, 2022 the best-selling manga in history, One Piece, will reach a landmark of 25 years of non-stop serialization. To kick off the celebrations for this milestone, a new logo has been unveiled to make nostalgic homage to the moment that started Luffy's adventures to become the Pirate King.
One Piece first appeared in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump on July 22 of 1997. Becoming an immediate hit due to its blend of action, humor, adventure, and the depiction of a vast world rich in lore and mystery, One Piece became the best-selling manga in history, with more than half a billion copies sold worldwide. This record has made One Piece one of the only two literary works in history to achieve that number, the other being Harry Potter. And the 25th anniversary of its debut is the perfect chance to celebrate this manga's history and legacy.

The new logo was revealed on a special One Piece live stream on March 28, together with other big reveals for One Piece's future, including a first look at the new RPG One Piece Odyssey, a new poster for the upcoming One Piece Film: Red that provides a better look at a new female character that will debut in the movie, and finally the reveal of who will be playing the role of Red-Haired Shanks in the Netflix live-action adaptation of the manga. Shanks, who will also be the protagonist of Red, is a very important character in the series, despite his sporadic appearances. He is the pirate who inspired Luffy to set sail on his adventure, and their bond is represented by the signature straw hat that Shanks gave to Luffy as a kid, and that he still carries with him everywhere.
